Asier Villalibre – Substituted against Levante on Friday 19th November with a second recurrence of a previous biceps femoris muscle injury of the left hamstrings. The injury was originally sustained in the match with Rayo Vallecano in September, and with a recurrence of the injury against Villarreal in October. Asier is understandably distraught about this and hopefully he will make a complete recovery and come back stronger.
Dani Vivian – Severe bruising of the rectus femoris muscle of the right thigh sustained in the match against Espanyol in October.
Yuri Berchiche – Now back in light training, and recently progressed to ball work. Yuri has been out for several months with pubalgia. This is common in football. Pubalgia is a painful overuse condition affecting the origins of the adductor muscles on the pubic bone.
Peru Nolaskoain - Still unfit as a result of arthroscopic ankle surgery towards the end of last season which led to various complications. Continuing rehab under the care of the medical team.
Atlético de Madrid
João Félix –Myofascial muscle injury of the left calf, which forced him to withdraw from training ten days ago. Currently receiving treatment with progress being regularly monitored by Atlético’s medical team.
Keiran Trippier – Acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) sprain of the left shoulder complex sustained against Valencia on the 7th November, 2021.
Ivan Saponjic – Muscle injury to the right thigh sustained on the 1st November, 2021
Sergio Roberto – Thigh muscle injury diagnosed last weekend after the game with Espanyol (in which he did not play) and unavailable on Saturday 27th against Villarreal.
Ansu Fati – Biceps femoris muscle injury to the left hamstring group sustained in the match against Celta Vigo on the 6th November.
Pedri – Quadriceps muscle injury of the thigh sustained in an earlier round of the Champions League against Bayern Munich.
Martin Braithwaite – Working back to fitness after knee surgery on the patello-femoral joint of the knee.
Kun Agüero – Initial reports now suggest that Kun is currently unlikely to return to football due to his heart condition, diagnosed after having to come off against Alavés in October with shortness of breath. Barça are set to make an official announcement in the next few days. If this is true, it will be a sad way to end such a long and successful career. Kun has been unable to train while undergoing a series of cardiac tests and was originally estimated to be out for 3 months, having been diagnosed with cardiac arrhythmia. This is a cardiac condition in which the heart either beats too slowly (bradycardia), too quickly (tachycardia), or in an irregular manner. Arryythmia can lead to sudden death, heart failure, or stroke.
Ousmane Dembélé – Still unavailable following a recurrence of of a semimembranosus muscle injury to the left hamstrings which occurred against Kiev Dinamo and is not quite ready to return to full training as yet.
Moussa Wagué – Still under rehab following surgery on a ruptured posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) and associated patella tendon lesion of the right knee, sustained while on loan at PAOK Athens in December, 2020. Now in the final stages of rehab and realistically looking at a return to training in early 2022. The injury occurred when he collided with the goalpost in attempting to make a clearance and this is the typical mechanism for this type of injury. The tibia is forced backwards by the impact and the PCL (as opposed to the ACL) is torn.
Tomás Alarcón – Muscular injury sustained last weekend against Getafe.
Jon Ander Garrido - Chronic patella tendinopathy for which surgery was required. Currently continuing rehab under the medical team

Hugo Mallo - Biceps femoris muscle injury of the right hamstring group sustained v Barça on the 6th November, 2021.
Santi Mina - Biceps femoris muscle injury of the left hamstring group sustained v Rayo Vallecano on the 1st November, 2021. Returned against Villarreal on Saturday.
Ximo Navarro - Partial tear of the cruciate ligament injury of the left knee sustained against Barça on 30th October, 2021.
Edgar Méndez - Adductor muscle overload v Barça at the end of October, 2021.
Fernando Pacheta - Ligamentous sprain of the ankle sustained v Elche.
Pablo Piatti - Soleus muscle overload which originated in October.
Óscar Gil – Patella tendon injury to the left knee sustained in a collision with Johan Mojica of Elche in October.
Jakub Janko – Rotational injury sustained to the left ankle in the match with Rayo Vallecano in September. X-rays excluded a double fracture of the tibia and fibula but the main finding was ligamentous damage which has required considerable input from Getafe’s medical team.
Sabit Abdulai - Continuing rehab following ACL surgery following an injury sustained in July at La Manga resort during a training game v Rennes.
Ryan Nolan - Late-stage rehab following an ACL and meniscus tear sustained in April.
Isma Ruiz - Posterior cruciate ligament injury to the right knee sustained in training and diagnosed as a partial tear.
Luis Milla - Right knee injury
Domingos Duarte – Nerve-related injury to the brachial plexus of the upper limb. This is a nerve complex arising from the lower region of the cervical spine, and which supplies power and sensation to the shoulder and upper thorax, arm and hand of one side of the body. Domingos’ injury was sustained during the match against Celta Vigo in Balaídos in October.
Neyder Lozano - Ongoing rehabilitation following repeat surgery in late September 2021 for a stress fracture of the tibia bone of the lower leg sustained before the restart of La Liga in June 2020. Reported to be progressing well.
Sergio Postigo – Injury to the soleus muscle of the left calf in training circa October 13th.
Roger Marti - Has been suffering with plantar fasciitis of the foot, which originally forced him to miss the match against Getafe in early October.
Jorge de Frutos – Currently unavailable due to an abductor muscle injury of the left hip.
Gonzalo Melero – Grade 1 muscle injury of the left hamstring group sustained v Sevilla in October.
Michele Diana – (Atlético Levante). Underwent successful surgery on the 23rd November 2021to repair a tear of the tendon of the biceps femoris muscle of the right hamstring group.
Aridane Hernández – Returned to training on October 18th but has since suffered a relapse of the soleus muscle injury sustained against Real Mallorca in September. Currently under treatment from the medical team.

Pathé Ciss – Missed the Valencia game on the 27thNovember with back pain.
Nteka - Missed the Valencia game on the 27thNovember due to an ankle injury.
Martín Merquelanz – Currently in rehab following arthroscopic surgery of the left knee for an injury sustained v Levante on the 11th September. Surgery revealed an internal derangement of the knee involving meniscal and ligamentous damage. Rehab is ongoing and overall progression is said to be positive.
Radamel Falcao - Adductor muscle injury of the right hip and thigh, sustained against Real Madrid on the 6th November.
Real Betis Balompié
Youssouf Sabaly – Late-stage rehab following surgery to repair a partial tear in the tendinous aspect of the rectus femoris muscle of the left thigh, sustained in August against AS Roma.
Víctor Camarasa – Struggling with intermittent muscle problems at the moment. This is likely as a result of being out for such a long time following ACL surgery last season and his current injury is probably just a carry-over from that. Hopefully this stage will soon pass and Víctor will regain his full match fitness in the near future. .
Dani Ceballos - Lateral ankle ligamentous sprain comprising a complete rupture of the anterior talofibular (ATFL) and calcaneofibular (CFL) ligaments of the left ankle. The injury was sustained during the Olympics while with the Spanish national team. Dani is still short of returning to full training.
Gareth Bale – Calf muscle injury sustained while playing for Wales v Belurus and said to be out for the next three weeks. See also leader article on home page.

Asier Illarramendi - Semitendinosus muscle injury of the right hamstrings on the 20th August. Making steady progress but still under the care of the medical team.

Carlos Fernández – Continuing rehab following ACL surgery on August 10th to his right knee, performed by Dr Mikel Sánchez. The injury was sustained in Real Sociedad’s pre-season friendly against AZ Alkmaar.
Nacho Monreal: Continuing rehab following regenerative treatment to the chondral surface of his right knee. This follows on from the injury sustained in March 2021.
Maty Ryan - Arthroscopic meniscectomy of his right knee performed by Dr Mikel Sánchez in Vitoria and currently continuing rehab under the medical team
Jesús Navas – Rectus femoris muscle injury of the right thigh sustained against Lille on the 3rd November, 2021.
Youssef En-Nesyri -Hamstring muscle injury sustained in the match v Espanyol in October.
Gabriel Paulista - Hamstring muscle injury sustained in the match against Villarreal on October 30th.
Thierry Correia – Currently unavailable due to pubalgia, which flared up in October 2021 and has not as yet responded to treatment to date. Reported to have stepped up his treatment under the guidance of the Valencia medical team but will not be rushed back to play before he is fully ready to do so. Pubalgia is common in football and is a painful condition affecting the origins of the adductor muscles on the pubic bone. The condition often presents as an overuse injury without the symptoms being attributed to a single, specific incident or injury. Initial symptoms are usually minor in nature but gradually worsen until it reaches the point where training and playing becomes impossible due to the pain.
Gerard Moreno – Recurrence of a previous hamstring muscle injury to the right thigh which was sustained in September against Osasuna. Gerard had returned to the team but had to be substituted in the game v Athletic Club in October.
